Caramel-Apple Bread Pudding

Bread pudding with the flavors of a caramel apple....Mmmmyum!
This recipe was so easy and cinnamony-delish, even better to be topped off with the caramel-nut sauce! The recipe is another from my go to baking cookbook Better Homes and Gardens
Old-Fashioned Home Baking. Which was the very first cookbook I ever purchased, from my Uncle Joe's store, when I was 14!;)
So this looks yummy right?!
I made it for my hubby's birthday breakfast-
he marked it with stars saying he wanted to try it!
How easy was that for me right!

Here is the ingredient list:
4 eggs,
2/14 c. milk
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. vanilla
1/8 t. ground nutmeg
2 c. bread cubed
1 6-oz pkg. dried apples
I used fresh-one whole apple
Caramel-Nut Sauce

Caramel Nut Sauce
In a small saucepan melt 1/4 c. butter. Stir in 1/2 c. packed brown sugar and 1 T. light corn syrup. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a full boil. Stir in 1/4 c. whipping cream. Return to boil. Remove from heat. Stir in chopped pecans. Serve warm-makes about 1 cup.

The rest of the details will be included in the printable recipe.

Have a delicious morning!!
Enjoy!!!

Apple Sauce & Review

To kick off fall and to get motivated for all the fall baking and activities our family, along with Michelle and Jimmy spent a day at The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island! It was a great way to spend the day and they had lots of activites including a corn maze, kids barn, hayride and hay bales for the kids to play on. Of course, Michelle and I were all excited about the fresh fruit and veggies at the Pumpkin Patch Market!! We were on the hunt for some delicious apples so we could tryout our new applesauce maker from CSN!

We got two different kinds- Jonagold and another kind that we can not remember at all!

Our new "toy" made making applesauce so easy!! It is very easy to put together and use. It also suction's to the counter and doesn't move at all!

Start by washing your apples and putting them in a big kettle with just a little bit of water. Cover and cook until apples are soft and starting to crack and peal. Dump the apples into the top of the applesauce maker. If the apples are bigger, you may need to cut them in half before putting into the apple funnel.

Ready to go!

Push the apples thru and crank the handle..... the "good" part will come out the front and all the "bad" stuff will come out of the shoot on the end!

Hmmmm.... looks nummy and flavorful!

Add as much sugar and cinnamon as you desire!

Whip it good! :)

Spoon your applesauce into your prepared jars. Boil the jars in a hot water bath for 20 minutes.

Let your jars sit for 24 hours!

Ready to enjoy!!! We mixed both the kinds of apples and it turned out great!

Spiced Apple Drops

Here is a sure crowd pleasing cookie for anyone who loves apple!
It's got little chunks of apple and yummy cinnamony flavor.
Very easy and the Apple Spiced Frosting really tops it off;)

First peel and slice an apple, then throw it in the food processor or finely chop it.

Beat the butter on med-high speed for about 30 seconds.
Add half of the flour, then add the sugar, brown sugar, egg, half of the cider,
cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg, and cloves.

Beat til thoroughly combined, scraping sides of the bowl occasionally.
Then beat or stir in the remaining flour and cider.
Stir in chopped apple.
Add the chopped pecans.
Stir until combined.
Drop onto greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.

Bake in a 375 degree oven for 10 to 12 mins or til edges are lightly browned.
Cool on cookie sheet for about a min.
Remove and place on cookie rack.
Once they are cooled frost with Apple Spiced Frosting.

Look at 'em all! Sooo much apple goodness!

Fall Inspired~ Apple Crisp

There are a few things that say "Fall is here"...and one of them is Apple Crisp!
Speaking of Fall-we are going to be posting a bunch of new Fall inspired recipes over the next few weeks! Some tried and true and some that are new;)
Make sure to check back to see what's up!

Now this recipe I have been making for years!
I'm pretty sure I've got it perfected:)

Start off with some apples-about 6 to 8.
Peeled, sliced and cored.

Place in the ramekins or 13x9 inch baking dish.

Add a little cinnamon, sugar and a dash of nutmeg.

Throw on a chunk of butter-Yum-can't go wrong there!

Here they are ready to bake-@ 350 degrees for about 35 mins.
This is the cookbook with the recipe I kinda go by:)
Does anyone else have it?
I love it!
Fresh out of the oven and ready to eat!
YUM!!!

Drop on some whip and you are good to go!

Enjoy with your favorite hot beverage;)
